Peel: privacy policy
How Peel: Cozy Sticker Puzzle, the Android game made by Cenix AB, handles your data. Peel has no accounts, no ads and nothing to buy.
Questions and deletion
Write to felix@cenix.se. You can ask to see or delete your data at any time.
1.The short version
Peel has no accounts, no ads and nothing to buy. You never give us your name, and your game progress stays on your phone.
With your yes, Peel sends anonymous usage data, so we can see which pages are too hard. You can say no, and change your mind in Settings.
If Peel crashes, it always sends a crash report, so we can fix the bug. It holds no name and nothing you wrote.
If you send feedback, we get what you write, and your email address only if you add it.
We never sell your data, and we never use it for advertising. You can ask us to delete your data at any time: write to felix@cenix.se.
2.What stays on your phone
Your progress (pages, stickers, diaries, coins and settings) is saved only on your phone. We cannot see it.
If Android backup is on in your phone’s settings, Android may back up this data to your own Google account. Google handles that backup under your Google account settings. We cannot see or reach it.
Daily reminder: after a few days of play, Peel offers a daily reminder. It stays off unless you say yes. It is a notification that your phone makes by itself, and no data leaves your phone for it. On Android 13 and newer, your phone asks you first. You can turn the reminder off in Peel’s Settings or in your phone’s settings.
3.Usage data, only with your yes
When you first start Peel, it asks “Help improve Peel?” and offers to share anonymous usage data. If you say no, Peel sends no usage data. You can change your answer at any time in Settings, under “Usage data”.
If you say yes, Peel sends us what happens in the game: a page started, finished or failed, how long it took and how many tries; tutorial steps; how long you played; a setting changed; a daily gift claimed, a streak day or a weekly goal reached; and that you opened the feedback form. It also sends a random ID for this copy of the app (not your name, and not your phone’s advertising ID), and your phone model, Android version, app version, language and country. It never sends names, email addresses or anything you type.
4.What we do with usage data
We use it to make Peel better: to find pages that are too hard, steps where players get stuck, and how many players come back.
Google (Firebase Analytics) collects this data for us, as our processor. Google uses the IP address of your connection only to work out your country, and does not store it. Detailed usage data is deleted after 2 months. After that we keep only totals, such as “how many players finished page 5”, which do not identify anyone.
Legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings. That stops new data and deletes the usage data Peel kept on your phone. It does not affect the data already sent.
5.Crash reports
If Peel crashes, or hits an error it can’t handle, it sends a crash report so that we can find and fix the bug. Crash reports are always on, and Peel tells you so on the first start.
A report holds the technical details of the crash: the error and where in the code it happened, the state of the app, your phone model, Android version, free memory and storage, the app version, and a random ID for this copy of the app. If you said yes to usage data, it also holds the last game steps before the crash. It never holds your name, your email address or anything you wrote.
Google (Firebase Crashlytics) collects crash reports for us, as our processor. Google deletes them after 90 days.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in an app that works. If you object, write to felix@cenix.se.
6.Feedback you send us
Peel has a “Send feedback” button. If you use it, we collect the text you write and the type you pick (bug, idea, wording or other), and the app version, your phone model and system version, and your app language.
We also get a screenshot of the app, only if you choose to attach one. We remove hidden data (such as location) from the picture. The picture shows what was on your screen, so check it before you send. And we get your email address, only if you choose to give one, so that we can answer you.
We use this to fix bugs, improve the app and correct translations. We do not use it for advertising and we do not share it with anyone else. We read feedback ourselves, and keep it on servers run by Cenix AB.
7.Keeping and deleting feedback
How long we keep it: 12 months from the day you sent it. After that it is deleted automatically. Our backup copies are kept for up to 30 more days, then they are deleted.
To stop abuse, we briefly use your IP address to count how many messages come from one connection. We keep only a scrambled form of it, for a short time (one hour in normal use, at most one day). It is not linked to your feedback.
Your choices: sending feedback is your choice, and the email address is optional. Please do not write passwords or other sensitive information in it. You can ask us to delete your feedback at any time. Write to felix@cenix.se and give either the email address you used or the feedback reference shown in the app after sending. We delete it, including the screenshot, and confirm by email. Backup copies disappear within 30 days. You can also ask to see what we hold about you.
Legal basis: your consent, because you chose to send the feedback. You can withdraw it by asking for deletion.
8.Things that send us nothing
Update check: Peel asks the Google Play app on your phone whether a newer version exists. Google Play handles this under Google’s own terms. We receive nothing.
Rating request: once, after you finish the first diary, Peel asks Google Play to show its rating window. Google Play decides whether it appears. If you rate Peel, your rating goes to Google Play under Google’s terms. We see only what Google Play shows us as a review.
Sharing: when you tap Share, Peel hands a picture or a short text to the app you pick, through Android’s share menu. It goes only where you send it. We receive nothing.
9.Permissions
Peel uses the internet (for usage data, crash reports, feedback and the update check), vibration (for haptic feedback, which you can turn off in Settings) and notifications (only if you turn on the daily reminder).
Android also lets it see whether you are online, keep the phone awake for a moment while it sends data or shows the reminder, and set the reminder again after the phone restarts. Peel does not use your contacts, photos, location, camera or microphone.
10.Who else gets the data
Google (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics) processes usage data and crash reports for us, under its data processing terms. Google may process this data outside the EU, including in the USA. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and its terms include the EU’s standard contractual clauses.
Feedback stays on servers run by Cenix AB.
We do not sell or rent your data, and we share it with no one for advertising.
11.How long we keep data
Each kind of data has its own time limit, and none is kept longer than this:
- Game progress
- On your phone only, until you delete the app or its data
- Detailed usage data
- 2 months, then only totals that identify no one
- Crash reports
- 90 days
- Feedback
- 12 months, plus up to 30 days in backups
- Scrambled IP address (feedback abuse check)
- 1 hour, at most 1 day
12.Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, or get a copy. You can object to how we use it, and you can withdraw a consent at any time. We give these rights to every player, wherever you live. Write to felix@cenix.se.
Usage data and crash reports are not linked to your name or email, so we may need your help to find yours: we will tell you how. Deleting Peel from your phone also removes its random ID, so no new data can be linked to the old data.
If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY, imy.se), or to the authority in your own country.
13.Children
Peel is made for players aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13. If you think a child under 13 sent us feedback, write to us and we will delete it.
14.Changes
If we change how Peel handles data, we update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. If a change needs a new consent, Peel asks you again in the app.
